Depression Therapy

Who Depression Therapy Can Help

Depression doesn't look the same for everyone. Therapy may be a good fit if you've noticed:

  • Persistent sadness, emptiness, or irritability

  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy

  • Constant fatigue or trouble getting out of bed

  • Changes in sleep or appetite

  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • Feeling hopeless, worthless, or disconnected from others

  • Having suicidal thoughts or thoughts of self-harm

Many clients come to us during a difficult season, such as grief, burnout, a major life change, or relationship stress. Others have carried quiet, "high-functioning" depression for years.

You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support.

You Don’t Have To Keep Pushing Through The Heaviness Alone.

Depression can make even simple days feel exhausting. If you've been feeling stuck, numb, or overwhelmed by sadness, support is available.

At Journeys Therapy Center, we offer depression therapy that helps you understand what's happening, build practical coping skills, and move toward the life you want.

What to Expect from Depression Therapy

A free 15-minute consultation. We'll talk briefly about what you're experiencing and answer your questions. There's no pressure and no commitment.

Your first session. We'll learn about your history, your symptoms, and what you'd like to change. Together we'll set clear, realistic goals.

Ongoing sessions. Sessions focus on understanding the roots of your depression, building coping strategies, and practicing new skills. We regularly check in on your progress and adjust the plan as needed.

Growth over time. Many clients begin noticing small shifts, such as more energy, clearer thinking, and renewed connection. Therapy gives those shifts room to grow.

Our Approach to Depression Therapy

Our philosophy is simple: difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. Healing isn't about being "fixed." It's about understanding your story, easing the pain, and building a life that feels meaningful again.

Our depression therapy is collaborative, warm, and personalized. We use experiential therapy, which goes beyond talking in circles about problems. It helps you connect with your emotions, notice patterns that keep you stuck, and practice new ways of responding in real time. We also focus on concrete coping skills you can use between sessions.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)- is a cognitive therapy approach that helps people effectively manage and regulate their emotions.

  • Attachment/Trauma-Informed Approaches- identify early life experiences of abuse, neglect, or chronic stress and their impact on the body’s stress response system.

  • Somatic/Mindfulness appraoches

We meet you where you are, at your pace, without judgment.

Frequently Asked Questions About Depression Therapy

How do I know if I need therapy for depression?
If sadness, low energy, or loss of interest has lasted more than two weeks and is affecting your work, relationships, or daily life, it's worth talking to a professional. You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable.

Is the consultation really free?
Yes. We offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions and see if we're the right fit before booking.

Do you accept insurance, and do you offer telehealth?
Some of our clinicians are in network with plans including Aetna, Baylor Scott & White, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna. Curative, Evernorth, Medicare and UnitedHealthcare. Our office will verify your benefits and give you an estimated cost. Telehealth sessions are available when both you and your therapist are in Texas.

How long does depression therapy take?
It varies. Some clients feel relief within a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll review your progress regularly and plan together.

Is therapy confidential, even for teens?
Therapy is confidential, with limited legal exceptions such as safety concerns. We'll explain how confidentiality works during your first conversation.
