Trauma / PTSD Therapy

Heal From Trauma. Reclaim Your Life.

Trauma doesn't have to define your future. At Journeys Therapy Center, we help you process painful experiences, calm your nervous system, and move forward at a pace that feels safe

You don’t need a formal Trauma or PTSD diagnosis to seek support. If the past is affecting your present, therapy can help.

Who Trauma & PTSD Therapy Can Help

Trauma isn't only about what happened to you. It's also about how your mind and body responded. You may benefit from trauma therapy if you have experienced:

  • Accidents, medical events, or sudden loss

  • Abuse, neglect, or a difficult childhood

  • Assault, domestic violence, or unsafe relationships

  • Combat, first responder work, or other high-stress service

  • Natural disasters or other life-threatening events

  • Ongoing stress or repeated painful experiences

Common signs include:

  • Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories

  • Feeling constantly on edge, jumpy, or unable to relax

  • Avoiding people, places, or reminders of the event

  • Emotional numbness or feeling disconnected

  • Irritability, anger, guilt, or shame

  • Trouble sleeping or concentrating

Our Approach to Trauma Therapy

We believe healing happens when you feel safe, heard, and in control. Our approach is trauma-informed, which means we never push you to share more than you're ready to.

What guides our work:

  • Safety first. We begin by building trust and teaching grounding and coping skills to manage distress.

  • Evidence-based care. We draw on research-supported methods such as cognitive behavioral approaches, trauma-focused therapy, and skills for emotional regulation.

  • Whole-person focus. We address how trauma affects your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships.

  • Your pace, your goals. Treatment is tailored to you, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

We offer:

  • Parts work/Internal Family System (IFS)

  • Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT)

What to Expect

Free Consultation (15 minutes). A brief, no-pressure conversation to share what brings you in, ask questions, and see if we're the right fit.

Building Skills. Early sessions focus on stability: grounding techniques, sleep support, stress management, and coping tools.

Processing & Healing. When you feel ready, you'll work with your therapist to process difficult experiences and reduce their hold on your daily life.

Moving Forward. We help you rebuild confidence, strengthen relationships, and set goals for the future.

Sessions are confidential, and you can pause, slow down, or change direction at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trauma / PTSD Therapy

How do I know if what I experienced was "bad enough" for therapy?
There is no minimum threshold. If an experience still affects your mood, sleep, relationships, or sense of safety, it's worth talking about.

Will I have to relive my trauma in detail?
Trauma therapy is paced around your comfort, and you'll build coping skills first. Your therapist will never pressure you to share more than you choose to.

How long does trauma therapy take?
It varies. Some people notice relief within a few months, while others benefit from longer support. Your therapist will review your progress with you regularly.

Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share is confidential, with limited legal exceptions that your therapist will explain at your first visit.

What if I'm not sure I'm ready?
That's okay, and very common. Our free 15-minute consultation is a low-pressure way to ask questions and get a feel for the process with no commitment.

Do you accept insurance, and do you offer telehealth?
Some of our clinicians are in network with plans including Aetna, Baylor Scott & White, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna. Curative, Evernorth, Medicare and UnitedHealthcare. Our office will verify your benefits and give you an estimated cost. Telehealth sessions are available when both you and your therapist are in Texas.
